Supervision of Young Skaters (CanSkate & Jr Academy)

Please be aware that while your child is participating in our programs they still remain under your supervision.  While they are on the ice, they are involved in our programming, however, if they must leave the ice to use the washroom, get a drink, or adjust skates or clothing, our coaches cannot supervise them.  For that reason it is imperative that you remain at the arena.

Session Protocol

  • Coaches and skaters only allowed on the ice.
  • No food, gum or beverages are allowed on the ice.  Water is permitted at the boards.
  • Figure skaters must wear standard skating attire.  Jeans or shorts are not allowed.
  • Coaches' request for music will take priority.
  • Skaters must move to the boards if they need to stop skating, no loitering on the ice.
  • Skaters must advise their coach if they need to leave the ice.

Code of Conduct

As a member of the Maple Ridge Skating Club each skater and parent is a representative of our organization.  Our pride is reflected in the character and responsible behavior of our members.  Respect for piers, parents, coaches, our facilities and other clubs we may visit is expected at all times.  The professional coaches and directors have full authority to ensure our club guidelines are honored.

Emergency/Evacuation Procedure

The Maple Ridge Skating Club will follow the Planet Ice emergency evacuation procedure directed by the fire Department.  In the event of an emergency all skaters, coaches, parents and others in the building will evacuate and meet on the graveled area close to the Fair Ground Barns and await further instructions.
