 Wendy Berezowsky has been a career coach for going on 36 years. She is a Triple Gold medalist in Figures, Freeskate, & Dance and competed in Singles, Dance, and Pairs. She was also a principal soloist and pair skater with Holiday on Ice International. Wendy has trained Regional, Sectional, Divisional, National & International champions and medalists. She has taught and had skaters complete all Skate Canada tests in the Competitive stream plus Freeskate, Figures, Skills, and Interpretive disciplines. She is NCCP Level 3 in General Subjects, Technical, and Theory. Plus she has extensive training in dance, music, drama, and singing.

In her spare time she has obtained diplomas as a Legal Secretary and in Computer Systems Management, and was enrolled in the Sports Science Diploma course at Douglas College which had to be put on hold due to her busy schedule of coaching.
She enjoys coaching all aspects of skating and takes great joy in watching every skater pursue their skating with passion and vigor, while attaining their own personal level of achievement.

Katie Blaker [Coach]

Katie Blaker is excited to be joining the MRSC coaching staff this fall. Katie has one year of coaching experience with the CanSkate and Junior Academy in the Yukon and was the 2008 Arctic Winter Games team coach. She is a Triple Gold medalist in Freeskate, Skills & Interpretive Skating, has Sr. Silver in Dance and her Novice competitive tests. Katie competed in Singles to Pre-Novice at the Sectional level and at the Arctic Winter Games.   Katie has had training in dance and music and is NCCP Level 1 certified in Theory and Technical. Katie is starting a degree in criminology at Douglas College this fall. Katie’s approach to coaching is for skaters to have fun while working toward achievable goals.

Elyse Marlo [Coach]

Elyse has been a club coach with MRFSC since Sept. 2007. Elyse began skating at the age of 5 at the Maple Ridge Figure Skating Club. She was a competitive skater in Freeskate and Dance. She medaled in Dance at the 2005 and 2006 BC/YT Section Championships and competed at the Skate Canada Western Challenge. As a Freeskater she competed in BC/YT Section Championships and BC Winter Games. She was BC Coast Champion in Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile. She has successfully completed her gold tests in Freeskate, Dance and Skills. She has had extensive training in RAD ballet, jazz and hip hop. Elyse completed the Level 1 NCCP coaching certification. She has an Associates of Arts Degree with a Specialization in Criminology graduating in the top 10% of her class. She is currently attending Simon Fraser University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology.  Her approach to coaching is to encourage skaters to achieve their personal best and to have fun doing so.

Cindy Watson [Coach - Synchro]

Cindy is a certified NCCP level one and a partial level two coach, with sixteen years of coaching experience. She has taught all levels and disciplines of skating, from Pre School through to StarSkate and CompetitiveSkate, both with children and adults.

Her passion with synchro started in 1997 where, as a skater, she traveled to her first National Synchro Championships in Hamilton. She then began coaching a group of ladies which over the last ten years has become the Coquitlam Masters Synchro Team. She has also coached Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile, Pre-Novice, and Novice teams representing the Maple Ridge SC and Cloverdale FSC.

Some of her personal achievements in skating include: Gold Figure, Gold Freeskate, Gold Dances, Part I & II Junior Competitive Freeskate, Bronze Rhythm Dance Variation, Level II Skills, Evaluator (all disciplines up to and including Pre-Novice Level), and was the Recipient of the “1996 Evaluator of the Year” award.
